When I say..

By Carol Wimmer

When I say..."I am a Christian"
I'm not shout
ing "I am saved"
I'm whisp
ering "I get lost!"
"
That is why I chose this way."

When I say.

.."I am a Christian"
don'
t speak of this with pride.
I'm confe
ssing that I stumble
and need someo
ne to be my guide.

When I say.

.."I am a Christian"
I'm not tryin
g to be strong.
I'm profe
ssing that I'm weak
and pray for stren
gth to carry on.

When I say.

.."I am a Christian"
I'm not bragg
ing of success.
I'm admit
ting I have failed
and canno
t ever pay the debt.

When I say.

.."I am a Christian"
I'm not claim
ing to be perfect,
my flaws
are too visible
but God belie
ves I'm worth it.

When I say.

.."I am a Christian"
I still
feel the sting of pain
I have my share
of heartaches
which
is why I seek His name.

When I say.

.."I am a Christian"
I do not wish to judge
.
I have no autho
rity.
I only know I'm loved

.

My goal of reading through the whole Bible in a year is failing, miserably. Why is it so hard to take a little time out of my day to devote to God?

Interview

Mariah interviewed me.

1)Have you ever had an experience that led you to believe in angels or ghosts?
I believe in angels, not so much ghosts. If I believed in ghosts I would probably need strong medicine because I freak myself out so easily on my own, it would be creepy to think about 'ghosts' (To me ghosts are scary, not friendly like Casper) But, to answer the question-I have not ever had an experience that made me believe in either.

2) Who's the most unusual member of your family?
I would like to say that we are all "normal"- except that time my dad bought Crocs. Light brown ones--it was really weird seeing a BIG man in those things. I asked David, and he said "Amy" (she's my sister--and that's all i'm going to say)

3)If you could change one thing about the way you look what would it be?
Right now, it would be the stinkin' staph infection on my face. Or should we call it Shingles? Either one since the doctor doesn't know what it is and I just started a new prescription that is making my eyes bug out. Yay Medicine. Besides that, I would like to have bigger boobs. I have ALWAYS wanted a boob job--but will never get one. Hoping babies help me out :0)

4) I know you have a serious shoe addiction, what is your favorite pair?
When I lived in DC, I was so much more of a shoe person-partly because I didn't want to wear the same pair every day, or even that same week--now that I work from home I wear my boat shoes or tennis shoes..exciting right? I want to dress up and wear my Guess peeptoe though--I love those shoes. I actually would like to work away from the home again, but then I think that I wont get to sleep until 8:45, turn on the computer, and start working. Plus, there's so many other advantages of working from home--even if I don't get to socialize.

5) Which moment of your life would you choose to relive if you could?
It would have to be something with my Father, but only if I could come back to present time..I definitely would NOT want to go through all of those crazy years again.

Here are the directions:

1. Leave me a comment & your e-mail address saying, "Interview me." If you dare.
2. I will respond by emailing you five questions. (I get to pick the
questions).
3. You will update your blog with the answers to the questions.
4. You will include this explanation and an offer to interview
someone else in the same post.
5. When others comment asking to be interviewed, you will ask them five questions. (I get to choose the questions.)

The first five 'askers' get the interview!

Unedited

[I took these pictures last week]

Within a few minutes of me standing there in awe this:
became this:
I get a little tightness in my chest when I see something in the world so beautiful because it truly is amazing to see such beauty and know that never in a million years could I create something so wonderful. I also feel the same way when I think about Heaven, because I cannot fathom how great it is going to be.

God, if you're reading this.. I am so excited to come to Heaven, but I really want to see just how cute my babies with David are going to turn out.. so we'll have this 'when am I coming to stay' conversation in about 80 years, okay? P.S. I would like to see my grandbabies too....

I'm so smart.

Things I've learned in BLOGLAND...
  • A lot of us "know" the same people..and by "know" I mean we visit the same blogs, have the same blogs on our blog rolls. I'd say we're a pretty strong blog community within a blog community!

  • There are A LOT (and by a lot I mean probably more than half of my daily reads) of Mormon bloggers out there. Shout out to the Mormons. (even though i'm not one).

  • I only know a few of your husbands actual names, because you all have nicknames for them!

Coming Together

Is it already Wednesday? Hopefully by now we can all get over the fact that Obama is President, and the celebrities can go back to LA. No offense to LA, but it's weird that Obama has become a celebrity. He's the President. I don't care what he's wearing or what he buys--I care about how he leads our country. Did you see the crowds yesterday? That is the first time I am totally glad I did not live in DC anymore. Whew, I think I would have had an anxiety attack--I felt sick just watching the TV. I went through a lot of "super crowded days" like when the Pope came to visit & all of spring time, especially during Cherry Blossom season. And of course who can forget morning metro rides.. I have never been more violated not on purpose in my life. I am proud to have "made it" in the big city--especially being from a town with no stoplights. But I am completely content living outside of Richmond with my David.

Further more.. Here is what has been taking up my time..I've been "crafting" I use that term loosely because I am not crafty.
These (above) were plain white candles that I dressed up using scrapbook paper.. and ribbon. I have made a lo more since I took this picture, and am so excited to use them~

This is my favorite thing i've made so far. I got the wooden "G" from Michaels and dressed it up a bit. I don't know where I am going to put it..but I loveeee it.

Could have killed him..

Whitney, one of my favorite bloggers, posted today about how she almost died. Upon reading her story of how she has (and had eaten some of) the yummy peanut butter crackers that are being recalled due to salmonella poisoning..I realized something.

I could have killed my husband.

Being the sweet woman that I am I did a little grocery shopping last week specifically for David's trip this week. ((He's been gone since Sunday, returns tonight--training for work)) and I got him those EXACT crackers. TWO packs of the toasted peanut butter crackers.

As soon as I was done reading Whitney's post I grabbed the phone and texted Dave, "DO NOT EAT CRACKERS-SALMONELLA!!" I should have not freaked and actually written a sentence, but i'm sure he got the point. He then called and asked "what crackers?" ...so he hasn't learned to interperet MeganTalk, eh, he'll learn.

Turns out he's finished all the crackers..and asks if i'm trying to kill him. Not yet dear husband, not yet!

------------------------
As a side note, I never want that last sentence coming up in court. It was a JOKE. J-O-K-E!!!

Not just for kids

(My DR told me this yesterday so i'm passing it on to you!)

So we all should know that it is good for your body to take some sort of vitamin everyday-but with so many out there, how do we choose?!?

This answer is: Flintstones Vitamins.

So they aren't just for kids.

Sarah (my doctor) told me that your body retains more of Flintstones (specifically the chewable, there isn't tests out for the gummies yet) Vitamins than any other. Your body is only "wasting" (as in pooping-sorry for being gross) out about 12% of this--whereas others on the market (like Centrum, etc.) waste at least 50% (--Sometimes up to 67%!)

I don't know about you, but I wish someone had told me that sooner! And I think it's a bit ridiculous that answers like this don't go beyond the medical community-unless you have a great doctor that takes the time to explain things.

Just for your knowledge in case you wanted to start taking these:
Adults up to 150 pounds take 1 daily
Every 50 pounds after that, take another

------------------------------------------
Along with the Flintstones, I am also currently taking (as recommended by my wonderful Doctor) Metamucil With Calcium (3 in morning, 3 in evening--Fiber is GOOD for you-and you wont be on the toilet all day every day-your body adjusts to it, trust me), Vitamin D (1 daily because its the only thing the Calcium is lacking in Metamucil-and I don't drink much milk because of the Cholesterol), Fish Oil (a good one for everyone!)

14 Years.

In the past 14 years I have...
  • Been in the room with my Father when he had a heartattack that make him take his last breath and as a child I didn't fully understand what was going on.
  • Been lifted up to hug & kiss him in a casket, asking why he wouldn't look at me or hug me back
  • Watched my Mother cry because she didn't know how we would make ends meet
  • Celebrated 13 birthdays, Christmas', and Valentine's Days without seeing him there
  • Cried countless tears
  • Ached until I had no strength
  • Cut to heal the pain, although I realize now it only caused more pain
  • Blamed God for taking my Daddy
  • Become a woman
  • Given up what I should have saved for David
  • Gotten married without having my Daddy standing beside me
  • Gone to proms and dances without my Father having "the talk" with my dates
  • Played his favorite band's (Beach Boys) songs over and over
  • Been taught to drive by someone else
  • Gone on dates
  • Had my last first kiss
  • Been places I shouldn't have been, with people I shouldn't have been with
  • Learned the meaning of losing someone you love
Today I am..
  • Thankful that my Mom was able to re-marry
  • Thankful to realize that everything happens for a reason
  • Thankful for God in my life
  • Thankful I will see my Father again
  • Thankful I have an amazing man in my life
  • Thankful for a stepdad that has cared about me and been there where my Father couldn't be
  • Thankful I can look at pictures and see my Father
  • Thankful I inherited his wit, nose, and love for the camera
  • Thankful to have the air in my lungs
  • Thankful for a day dedicated to his memory

Daddy,
I love you and miss you. I am reminded of you everyday when I look at your picture on my desk. I am happy to have you looking down at me, and hope you like what you see!

The answers..

1. Alan (my boss) is having eye surgery today so instead of working allll day I took a long nap. TRUE. But, I only took a nap during my lunch hour--so I am still a "good" worker. :)

2. I have never been to NYC, but am going this summer. True. I think this is one of my "dreams come true" I used to daydream of just picking up and moving to NY, instead I picked up and moved to DC..which I am glad I did as that's where I met David.

3. Today, I got up and got dressed and put on makeup so I'm feelin fineee. False. I looked so gross yesterday I couldn't even take a picture for fear it would break my very nice very new and expensive camera.

4. We decided we would pay for the wedding, so we're planning one for May. True. May 16, 2009 is the day. :) I am very happy about this..even though we're already 'married' it is going to be nice to have a ceremony.

Lists

Appropriately named "2009 Goals" not resolutions..so if I don't accomplish everything on the list that will be ok..but I will be proud of what I was able to accomplish.

Do you have anything you would like to accomplish in 2009?
