Prayer

I have been trying lately to get back into prayer. Some people, like my wonderful mother pictured in the post below believes that you cannot get through the day without prayer and taking time to read the Bible. Most of my days, I get through just fine without them, but I wonder how things would be different if I learned to pray more. (ok, I sound like a horrible person-I'm not saying I don't NEED God in my life.)

So, we're starting slowly here.
For the next month I am going to make time to pray every day.

(
This is where I need your help!)

I feel like I don't pray as much because I always pray about the same thing. So, I am asking you to leave a prayer request. For one month I am going to take time to pray for you and whatever situation you're going through. If you don't want to leave it on my blog, send me an e-mail megchid AT gmail DOT com. Even if you AREN'T religious--there has to be SOMETHING going on in your life that you need a "little help" with. I'll check back in and see if there are any updates on the situations.

That's a great idea. I know that a lot of times we get caught up in praying the same things over and over - which usually center around and for ourselves. How wonderful that you are increasing your prayer life through praying for others. Excellent!

what an incredible idea! a girlfriend and myself have been trying to hold each other accountable for daily prayer time, and have been talking about ways to fill our prayer time. i'm so glad you're doing this!!!

hmmm...prayer request...my husband is the new college pastor at our church, and with school getting started back up, we're getting ready to really start reaching out and ministering to students at local colleges. we've always been with high schoolers, so this will be a new challange for us!

Truth be told, my brother is an alcoholic and living off my parents. My mother was admitted into the hospital two days ago with a burst blood vessel in her large intestine. They still have yet to stop the bleeding.I would really aprreciate a prayer for her to get better and for my brother get the help he needs.

Thank you Megan.

Good for you. And just from my experience, prayer MAKES my day. Not just makes it better or bearable, but makes it. I usually spend my entire 3 mile daily walk praying for my husband and my marriage, but then I also do little one line prayers throughout the day, and then I pray with my husband every night before we go to sleep. Yay, I hope that you stick with it and that you see changes.

What a wonderful idea! I know that I have trouble with not praying the same prayer, too! Here's a request to add to your list if you'd like!

My youngest daughter Nevaeh has a congenital heart defect (I found your blog through Amber's blog). Vaeh, as well call her, also has a feeding tube in her stomach as she forgot how to eat as a baby due to all of her surgeries, etc. She has just within the past few weeks begun to eat by mouth (praise GOD!) & continues to progress at this every day. What our request is is that she takes enough calories by mouth that we no longer need to tube in her stomach & can have it removed!

So, I hope this helps in your quest for ideas for prayer! Please feel free to stop by our blog & check in on Vaeh & her progress! The address is http://nevaehkaylenewalp.blogspot.com/

Thanks!

Megan that is such a fantastic idea! I love the concept, and in fact intend to plagiarise sometime in the near future! Abigail is having her first RMI tomorrow, and me her Mama is a little nervous, even if I know everything will be fine. I just don't like the idea of putting her to sleep. And I'm praying that the outcome will be that her epilepsy is over. Other than that, I can only say pray that you continue to be as nice and thoughtful, and that my daughter grows up to have your qualities!

I'm going to ask you to pray for my dad who needs a kidney transplant. I'm also going to ask you to visit my blog and check out my friend Melissa's blog (Heisel Happenings) and pray for her family. Also - check out All My Kid's and her link the Mck Mama...

Also, Brown Eyed Fox did a special post on a very inspiring woman last week. You should peek over there and send her your prayers if you have time.

Now that I've given you some material to work with, you should be good to go and rather busy praying!

Thanks for being so caring though - and it really does make such a huge difference knowing we have people like you in the world.

Oh, and - can you please fill me in on the secret... I'm dying to know.

Have a happy Tuesday!

What a great idea - so often our prayers can become repetitive and we lose feeling in them.

I am praying for my son Graham to make friends at school and to enjoy his first experiences there. As a worried mom I'll take all the additional prayers for him that I can!

What an impact that your desire to pray for others has made. Everyone out there really does have needs, we just do not always share them.
I am going to commit to pray for the newest surprise in your life. May God bless you richly thru Jesus Christ, in all that you do, especially for others!

I read this as part of my devotional today and thought of what you are up to. I thought you might find it encouraging!

""Your Father knows the things you have need of before you ask Him" ( Matthew 6:8 ). Then why should we ask? The point of prayer is not to get answers from God, but to have perfect and complete oneness with Him. If we pray only because we want answers, we will become irritated and angry with God. We receive an answer every time we pray, but it does not always come in the way we expect, and our spiritual irritation shows our refusal to identify ourselves truly with our Lord in prayer. We are not here to prove that God answers prayer, but to be living trophies of God’s grace."
