Ideas for the BIG day..

Even though we haven't set a date for the 'ceremony' yet.. (I believe it will be August 1, 2009--since that is a Saturday and makes perfect sense..since it was the same day we..well, you know.) We, okay let's be honest, I have ideas of what I want.

The Colors: Black, White, & Red as the accent color
Time: Evening
Place: The location will be at my home church, and it is special because it is the same church my parents got married in. The church sanctuary is really pretty, and it is the church I grew up in. We can have the reception down in the "reception hall" and that is VERY nice because we will not have to pay for the ceremony location or reception site.. which is something that brides/grooms spend a lot of money on.
After party: I would like to be able to go to the local country club after the reception to "boogy down" and drink a few.. We cannot do that at the church, but I really think being able to dance and drink a little really makes weddings fun.

I like this idea for the set up of the reception..but I think it is too much black..needs a pop of color. I would like to have something red as the centerpieces..
Having something along the lines of red roses as the centerpiece would be lovely..and of course some tealight candles and other things around the centerpiece would tie it off nicely.

I am IN LOVE with this cake. I am not sure how I feel about using fresh flowers on the cake..so maybe fake ones?? And I want a sparkly "G" wedding topper.
Bridesmaid dresses.
Not sure if I am crazy about the bow.
A dress like this paired with a beautiful red necklace.
Ah, I'm in Heaven.

Can you tell I have spent a lot of time thinking about this? What are your honest thoughts!?!? I know it is "MY DAY" and all, but I like honesty. I want the black/white/red theme because I think it is classy && the bridal party pictures will be amazing.

I love those bridesmaid dresses. I did the same thing, in finding elegant dresses for the B'maids. I personally hate most b'maids dresses so it was a task. I ended up finding the perfect ones and I actually wanted one for myself! :) I love your cake, too. It's so different with the red swirls. Lovely. I'm excited to watch your progress!

That bridesmaid dress is to die for. I wish someone would have picked that one out for me when I was in a bunch of weddings...but I have nothing nearly that cute! Love your ideas!

OMG it's beautiful!! I think you've got it planned already and you should move up the date! lol

I LOVE the cake - it's totally unique and very classy. The bridesmaids dresses are VERY nice and with the red necklaces - perfect! I also think the reception pic is just gorgeous. And when you add the punch of the red color to it... It just makes me want to get married again. Of course to my fabulous hubby. Maybe we'll do it all again for our 10th anniv. in Feb. (yeah, right, he'll never go for that!!)

Love the white, black and red color scheme. My friend did that and it was awesome! Especially for an evening wedding.

All the pics/ideas you have shown look great - I really love them all.

One idea that a friend of mine did was she let all her bridesmaids pick their own dresses, they just had to be black and long. So each girl could pick a dress that she liked and looked good in. I wasn't so sure about it when she told me what she was doing but it turned out SO nice. Especially if you have different bridesmaids w/ many different types of bodies. Just a thought!

All your ideas are great. I think that cake would even look good if there were no flowers on it.

Here's an idea that my cousin did. Instead of using place cards with guests names and table numbers, she had individual bottles of wine with each couple's name on them. Not only was it their place card, it also doubled as a favor.

Love it! My best friend put us in black floor length bridesmaid dresses, it's the only one I've LOVED, worn again and actually kept. She had black and white with orange and red accents (it was in october).

I LOVE all your ideas! I love that cake too!

Oh..and in response to your comment on my blog. I've had my nose pierced for about 6 months. I highly recommend it (for the cuteness factor and not the pain factor) I'm sure you could pull it off!

The cake is beautiful! I had silk flowers with live greenery on my cake - gave it a nice touch.

As for the centerpiece, I love the square black angled over the round white cloth. I, too, like the idea of something red for centerpieces... maybe a red rose arrangement sitting on a mirror (9" round or square) - really makes candle light pop! Gives you a much more elegant affect.

I think you're on track for a beautiful day! (BTW - my Mom & her 2 sisters are wedding decorators here in Ohio!)

Hey Megan don't forget to invite the Bernard Bunch to your wedding! And Abigail has to be one of your bridesmaids! She would look simply splendid in that dress - without the bow!

Its so exciting watching you plan! I planned our wedding ten years ago, and I LOVE sharing my experiences - so don't hesitate to email me!

I am NOT kidding : the Bernard Bunch wants to be there!!!

Lots of love

Don't know you but my cousin had this same theme at her wedding. Love the dresses, bow and all. On the centerpieces if you do the red roses I would lose all the leaves around the stems, to me just a bit classier. Cake is super cute.
