What I would do..

Yesterday I texted Dave and said, "I think we should buy a lottery ticket" and then last night I was flipping channels and on TLC was a show about winning the lottery and how it changed their life. Talk about jealousy! I know that I will NEVER win the lottery, but if I did... this is what I would want to do with the money:
  • Buy a nice house && decorate it..
  • Give our parents money (after all, if they won, I would hope they would give us some money!)
  • Donate to a church (that should be first on the list!!)
  • Make a college fund for Josh (Dave's nephew..sweetest thing.. weird mother.. long story)
  • Buy two new cars
  • Give the brothers & sisters some
  • Travel..(Bora Bora, here I come!)
  • Put money aside for future children
  • Depending on how much we won, QUIT our jobs!
  • Invest the rest.
What would you do if you won the lottery?

Hummm... hard to think about. Logically, I would immediately donate 10% to a missionary, and invest another 40%. (The investment would hopefully cover future children's college funds & weddings!) Then I would pay off ALL debt and possibly replace anything in my life that needed replacement (like right now -- a new washer & dryer would do me very well!). Hmm, I think that sounds good! And... well, then I'd definitely quit my job and have babies since I'd be financially ready for it. :D

Hmmm. I'd first buy a place for my dad so he'd never have to worry about that sorta thing again. I'd then buy him a Harley.

Give out money to each person in our close family... Not sure what amount yet - but we'd remain on call if they needed anything.

I'd pay off all my debts.

Donate to some good causes, including specific people/churches/charities that touch my heart.

Go on vacation - for 2 weeks or maybe a month

Buy a new wardrobe

Chris and I would just stash the rest and continue our normal lives - just live more comfortably.

GOOD QUESTION! It was fun to answer. I liked yours and Liz's too

Wow, thats a long link. I just heard about this the other day and thought of it instantly when I read your blog. A church refused to take this guys tithe after winning in the lottery.

I would tithe to my churhc.
I would pay off all my debts. Buy a new home and decorate it with all new furniture and accessories. I would also buy a new car. I would pay off my parents home and give them a nest egg as well. I would also help my brother. Invest and start a few charities. It would be fun.

I guess what I would/could do with the money would depend on how much I won.

Alas, it doesn't matter because my best friend won $5 million in the Illinois lottery about 18 years ago, so I don't think it's likely that I would win.

Hi Megan...Glenn and I have talked about the very same thing. We would definitely quit our jobs and move up to Canada, open a lodge and fish all the time..I know, doesn't sound very glamorous, but it would be relaxing!

Hugz,
Michele

well, i'll never win the lottery. but, i am going to be on wheel of fortune! so when i win $100,000, i plan to: tithe to the church, pay off debt, invest in retirement, and if there's any left, get a beautiful house and a boat :)

This is crazy to think about for real

1. Donate. Donate. Donate. to the church.
2. Help out my family with finances
3. Pay off Caleb's debt, buy him a motorcycle, and pay for him to finish flying lessons
4. Build my DREAM HOUSE. A simple (yet stylish) cottage or cabin in the mountains of north carolina
5. Quit my job and start wedding planning and doing flowers
6. Buy a mini cooper and a nice pick up
7. Live like I didn't win the lottery.

Oh gosh isn't it just WONDERFUL to think about! All the things you could do! First of all, I would buy myself a thousand pairs of shoes .... then I would buy a thousand tubs of Haagen Daasz Macadamia nut brittle. And then the whole Bernard Bunch would have to go jump on a cruiser ship and sail the world for months and months and months, discovering all sorts of countries and ransacking all the clothes shops in every single one of them. Then come back and buy an ancient farm house in the countryside and set up an animal refuge ... then pay off all my families mortgages ... oh wow isn't it wonderful to dream? Instead I'll go home tonight and have a peek at my accounts to see if we can afford to do a family outing tomorrow ... thank goodness that what really makes us happy is for free, eh???

I'd start by helping certain people in financial stress out anonomously. Then I'd set up a trust fund for each of our kids. Then I'd pay off our home and any debt (my parents too...if I had enough). Any left over I would throw into an high-yield offshore bank and live off of the interest somewhere in the Caribbean... Dreaming is so much fun!
